Bromantane

A completed test of mood stability and stress tolerance. The effect now feels stable enough to keep, so use continues even though the experiment is closed. Personal experiment record, not medical advice, prescribing, sourcing guidance, or an instruction to copy.

Result: At 50 mg per day, I noticed a clear stabilization of mood and stress tolerance. I consider the signal stable and am continuing Bromantane as part of the routine.

Research Summary

What it is

Bromantane, also known as Ladasten in some of the Russian clinical literature, is a synthetic adamantane derivative. I am treating it as a research compound, not as a vitamin, nutrient, or general wellness supplement.

Why it caught my attention

The interesting claim is not simple stimulation. The claim profile is anti-fatigue, activating, and potentially anxiolytic. That maps to the exact thing I would want to test: better emotional steadiness and stress tolerance without paying for it with worse sleep or a more pressured nervous system.

Human evidence

The human evidence is narrow. A randomized placebo-controlled Ladasten study in neurasthenia reported better reduction of asthenic symptoms than placebo over a 28-day treatment period. A multicenter Russian study in asthenic disorders reported response signals and low adverse-event rates, but it is not the same as a modern, easily audited Western trial in healthy people.

Mental fatigue signal

The most directly relevant healthy-volunteer signal is a small psychophysiology study using a single 100 mg dose. It reported no behavioral toxicity and improvement in mental-fatigue conditions, especially in stress-labile individuals. I treat that as hypothesis-generating, not decisive.

Mechanism

Animal and mechanistic studies suggest effects on dopaminergic signaling, including tyrosine hydroxylase and DOPA decarboxylase expression, dopamine content, and dopamine-dependent hippocampal plasticity. That is part of why the compound is interesting, but mechanism is not outcome proof.

Risk frame

The uncertainty is large enough that this belongs in the experiment ledger, not in the permanent-routine bucket. It is not an FDA-approved U.S. drug product in my framing, Health Canada has warned about unauthorized Bromantane/Ladasten products, and WADA treats bromantan as a prohibited stimulant in tested sport.

The Experiment

Protocol

I started this experiment in late June 2026. The logged amount is 50 mg per day. This is listed in the Just After Wake Up section of the daily stack as a research compound, with no sourcing guidance.

Hypothesis

The useful result would be calmer mood regulation under pressure: fewer stress spikes, less rumination, cleaner task initiation, and better tolerance for hard work or training without feeling wired.

Primary watch signals

The signals I care about most are mood stability, stress reactivity, sleep onset, sleep quality, resting heart rate, blood pressure, anxiety, irritability, appetite, and whether the compound creates a pressured or compulsive work feeling.

Decision

Bromantane earned a place. The improvement in mood regulation and stress tolerance became clear and consistent enough that I now consider the result stable. I am closing the experiment as helpful while continuing to use it.
