JXL-069 / PP405

My RU58841 experiment stopped heavy shedding. The next question is growth: can activating follicle metabolism produce more visible hair, greater density or thicker strands? Personal experiment record, not medical advice, prescribing, sourcing guidance, or an instruction to copy.

Status: Active hair-treatment record opened October 21, 2026. First application date and actual exposure are not yet recorded. No personal result yet.

The Experiment

The question

Does topical JXL-069 produce visible regrowth, greater density or thicker hair beyond the shedding control I observed with RU58841? Retaining hair and growing more hair are separate outcomes in this record.

Why I am testing it

RU58841 essentially stopped the drastic shedding that prompted my earlier experiment, but I saw no clear regrowth or improvement in hair thickness. JXL-069 asks a different biological question: whether shifting follicle stem-cell metabolism can restart growth. My separate KX-826 experiment follows androgen-receptor blockade and hair retention.

Application record

The intended route is topical scalp application. The first-use date, source, formulation, concentration, measured volume and frequency have not yet been entered. Opening this active record does not establish that an application has occurred or that the two hair experiments have started together.

Observations

What I am looking for

The primary outcome is a visible increase in coverage or density. New growth in previously sparse areas and thicker existing hair would support that result. Shedding control is recorded separately, along with scalp comfort and any unwanted effects.

Comparable photographs are the useful reference: the same scalp areas, lighting, angle, hair length and styling. A repeatable count in a marked area would add a density measurement. Application dates and any changes in RU58841, KX-826 or other hair treatments belong alongside the observations.

Research Summary

Chemical identity

PubChem indexes JXL-069, suvomipic, PP405 and PP-405 in the same compound record. The molecular formula is C₂₀H₁₁F₆N₃O₂ and the CAS registry number is 2260696-63-5. WHO's proposed suvomipic entry describes the matching chemical structure and identifies it as a mitochondrial pyruvate carrier inhibitor. Pelage's clinical results below refer specifically to its tested PP405 gel.

Follicle metabolism

The mitochondrial pyruvate carrier brings pyruvate into mitochondria. Inhibiting it shifts metabolism toward lactate production, a pathway involved in activating hair follicle stem cells. The foundational mouse research linked that shift to entry into a new hair cycle. The 2021 medicinal chemistry study identified JXL-069 as a potent MPC inhibitor within a series developed for hair growth.

PP405 human results

Pelage's phase 2a enrolled 78 people who used PP405 0.05% gel or vehicle daily for four weeks. At week eight, 31% of treated men with greater hair loss exceeded a 20% increase in density, versus 0% with vehicle. That is a subgroup responder result, not a 20% average increase for everyone. The sponsor reported good tolerability and no detectable systemic drug in sampled blood.

Safety and pharmacokinetic results were posted to ClinicalTrials.gov in September 2026. On October 14, Pelage announced first dosing in AWAKEN, a 12-month phase 2/3 study planning approximately 600 men. That trial has no results yet. Whether a growth change persists after stopping remains a question for follow-up.
