KX-826 / Pyrilutamide

A topical androgen-receptor blocker for the next hair question: can I keep the shedding control I observed with RU58841 and also improve density or hair thickness? Personal experiment record, not medical advice, prescribing, sourcing guidance, or an instruction to copy.

Status: Active hair-treatment record opened October 21, 2026. First application date and actual exposure are not yet recorded. No personal result yet.

The Experiment

The question

Does topical KX-826 maintain the shedding control I observed with RU58841 and add a visible improvement in density or hair thickness? Successful retention and additional growth will be recorded separately.

Why I am testing it

RU58841 stopped my heavy shedding, but I did not see clear regrowth or stronger hair. Pyrilutamide targets the same broad androgen-receptor pathway and now has a positive phase III hair-count result. That makes it a useful comparison for both protection and growth. The separate JXL-069 / PP405 record follows follicle metabolism rather than receptor blockade.

Application record

The intended route is topical scalp application. The first-use date, source, actual formulation, concentration, measured volume and frequency have not yet been entered. This active record does not establish that RU58841 has stopped or that KX-826 and JXL-069 are being applied together.

Observations

What I am looking for

Shedding is the first readout: whether heavy loss stays controlled or returns. Coverage, density and strand thickness are separate growth readouts. Scalp itching, irritation and any other unwanted effects belong beside the benefit.

Comparable photographs of the same areas, under the same lighting and angles, are the useful visual reference. Hair length and styling need to stay comparable. A count in a consistently marked area would add a density measurement. The 24-week clinical endpoint provides a useful longer-term reference for assessing growth.

Actual application dates and changes in RU58841, JXL-069 or other hair treatments will stay visible in this record so that a change in the surrounding routine is not lost from the comparison.

Research Summary

Androgen-receptor blockade

KX-826 is pyrilutamide, a nonsteroidal androgen-receptor antagonist developed for topical use. It competes with androgens at the receptor, rather than blocking testosterone's conversion to DHT. This is mechanistically closer to RU58841 than to finasteride.

The positive 2026 phase III

Kintor reported results from 666 men treated for 24 weeks. Non-vellus target-area hair counts increased by 14.46 hairs/cm² with 0.5% twice daily, 15.33 with 1% twice daily and 4.68 with vehicle. The vehicle-adjusted gains were 9.78 and 10.65 hairs/cm², respectively, both with p < 0.0001. These are trial exposures, not my application record.

The small numerical difference between concentrations does not establish that 1% is meaningfully better than 0.5%. The sponsor reported no clinically significant difference in overall adverse-event incidence between groups and no drug-related serious adverse events.

The earlier trial and longer follow-up

The earlier 740-participant phase III, announced in November 2023, did not demonstrate statistically significant superiority over placebo. The later positive trial adds a stronger efficacy result to that history.

A separate open-label report on 95 men completing 52 weeks at 0.5% twice daily found application-site itching to be the common treatment-related event, usually mild, with no drug-related serious adverse events. Its growth changes are comparisons with baseline, not placebo-adjusted effects.
